Delusions of grandeur

A Delusional Dictatorial Demagogue: The Mugabe (and Mbeki) Rant

"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy"
     -  Brian's Mom to the masses in "Monty Python's Life of Brian"

Like all petty dictators and megalomaniacs throughout history, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe seems to see himself as the saviour of his country, but, far from being Zimbabwe's Messiah, the man has now clearly become the destroyer of this once proud and prosperous nation. Self-delusion and pompous self-importance simply don't get much better than with this buffoon.

History Has Spoken: Bush Finally Seals The Deal

A Legacy For The Ages As Bush Wraps Up Title Of "Worst President Ever" In New Poll Of American Historians

Talk about a legacy! Talk about a performance! Talk about a Presidency! After years and years of hard work, dedication to his own vision, passionate defense of his own personal war, brilliant fear-mongering initiatives and, let's not forget, brave indifference, if not outright disdain, for domestic and worldwide public opinion, George W. Bush has finally done it. He's incontrovertibly clinched the title. He's made his own distinguished mark on History. Yes, people, as you may have already heard, the man now has an insurmountable lead in the race for the title of Worst President Ever and from this day forward no one can deny him his rightful place in History. Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Fillmore, Pierce, Harding, Hoover and Nixon all put up a damn good fight, but in the end none of them could compete with the complete disaster, horrific train wreck and inane, inept, ideocracy/idiotcracy that is the Bush Presidency. But, hey, don't take my word for it, take the word of the 109 American historians who were recently surveyed on the topic by the History News Network.

What a Dick!...tator: The Musharraf Rant

A.K.A. Bush's Dick - And I Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Cheney

What you've got over there in Pakistan right now is yet another one of those petty power-obsessed pricks doing what petty power-obsessed pricks always seem to do: Usurp power. Like so many other egotistical, megalomaniacal buffoons, this Musharraf idiot sees himself as the savior of his country. And to save it, of course, he must attack anyone and everyone that challenges his right to be Big Boss and Supreme Savior. If that means destroying the judiciary and throwing all the legitimate democratic leaders in jail, well so be it. Like Mugabe, like Kim Jong Mentally-il, like Pinochet, like Gaddafi, like every other Messianic Savior of Nation and People out there, he not only knows that he's right and everyone else is wrong, he also knows that he alone can see the way forward and he alone can save the nation from ruin. A ridiculously pathetic buffoon, straight and simple.

Bush, The Veto and The Little People: The WPE Rant

Would you go after children, I mean really go after them in a vicious heartless sort of way, just to win a campaign? Because that's exactly what Bush has just done. As you're probably already well aware by now, Bush, for some years now, has been running an aggressive, some would say ruthless, campaign for the title of Worst President Ever (WPE). It's true, sometimes he does blow it by showing tiny amounts of concern or even regret - no, regret is too strong a word - about the nearly-4000 dead American soldiers in Iraq, but no one can deny that he's mastered the whole aura of indifference when it comes to the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi dead and the destruction of their country. And, really, you have to admit he's run a brilliant campaign when you consider not only the debacle in Iraq, but also other things such as Katrina, the American gulag at Guantanamo Bay, his passionate defense of torture, his massive budget deficits, etc, etc. But going after poor sick kids like he's doing now, well that's truly a masterstroke. I really don't see how he could possibly lose after this.

Touching The Untouchables #7: The Pope

Did you hear the latest one by that Pope guy? You must have heard how, earlier this week, he decided to once again demonstrate his prowess at pomposity with his latest message to the world. And as far as pathetically pompous pontifications go, this one was a definite keeper.

The Black Hole of Arrogance Rant 'n' Rave (Conrad Black Convicted)

It's a great day. The Black Hole of Arrogance, also known as Conrad Black or, as his pompous self would most definitely prefer, Lord Black, is going away to jail.

The Don't Thank God For The Lunacy of The Runaway Ego Rant

Is it just me or do you also sometimes ponder the (il)logical implications of that seemingly innocent "Thank God", "Thanks to God", "Thank you God" statement we hear so often?

I mean, there's an earthquake and the survivors speak of how God personally saved them from death, there's an awards show and the winners thank God for their awards, there's a victory at some championship sporting event and it's God who is thanked for the win, as if God is a big football or NASCAR fan or something. Someone survives cancer or a heart attack and it was God who interceded at the last minute to save them from impending death. A politician wins a race and it was God who sided with him or her. Someone wins a beauty pageant and it was God who was not only watching, but intervened to help the winner triumph over all those other losers who God, clearly, found to be inferior.

The Speaking Of "Dismal Theories" Rant (The Pope Spews Some X'mas Hate)

Ok, look, it's the holiday season and, among other things, I've got many X'mas, as well as year-end poker, parties to attend and, therefore, I really don't have the time, nor the inclination, to rant right now; however, sadly, I'm left with no choice. Because, you see, holidays or no holidays, this simply cannot go uncommented on. Believe me, I was just trying to get into the holiday spirit yesterday when, out of nowhere, I got blindsided by none other than the Holy Pontiff; and he left me with no other option but to stand up to his bigotry, hatred and illogical ravings. Hey, somebody's got to do it, right?

The Vatican Specialists Mini-Rant

The Vatican has once again come out this week - with a full "report" no less - condemning gay marriage as "the greatest threat to the family" the world has ever seen. Or some such crap. Let's just ignore for the moment the ridiculousness of the whole idea of 2 gay people wanting to share their lives together somehow being a threat to The Family. What I really want to ask is this: Isn't the idea of a bunch of never-married celibate men lecturing the world about marriage more than just a bit ludicrous?

The 11-Year-Old Terrorist Rant (A.K.A. The Great Leader Rant)

Of course we all know those 3 boys (aged 13, 15 and 15) that the Americans just released from the Guantanamo Bay gulag were a serious threat to U.S. and world security. We know because Great Leader told us so. And just like he told us a few years back that he was a moderate who was going to govern from the center, and just like he told us last year that Iraq unquestionably possessed large stockpiles of W.M.D., Great Leader also told us, repeatedly, that those held at Guantanamo Bay were, and are, very serious threats to American and international peace and security.
