Saudi Arabia: Land of Justice and Godliness

What a lovely country that Saudi Arabia is. Check out this BBC article about a 19-year-old woman who is not only going to prison for being gang-raped, but is also facing 200 lashes.

Yes, 6 months in prison and a good whipping till all the skin has been ripped off her back, all for the crime of being gang-raped. And, in case you're thinking she might get off on appeal, this was the appeal! They actually increased her punishment on appeal!

Justice at its finest. Sharia law in all its glory.

Sharia law

Well, what do you expect? She was RIDING IN A CAR with a man who was NOT HER HUSBAND. The hussy!

There's such thing as Right and Wrong?

i thought that right and wrong were arbitrary concepts which it was for each individual to determine.. i thought that each culture was different, and who are we to judge another culture by our standards.. i thought it was being judgemental to say that someone was doing evil, and that they were just different... i thought that if something worked for you, then thats ok... i thought there was no such thing as evil, just ignorance, that you only have to educate, therefore a degree and a good deepak chopra book should make me saintly... im so confused.... Sharia law

I totally disagree that it is being culturally sensitive or anti-racist to not judge and name injustice. Injustice is injustice and we are all connected as brothers and sisters. We should, in solidarity, speak up and out on behalf of injustice. - LM
